Egg-stravegant 3D Easter Egg Craft
MARCH 19TH, 2024
This easy Easter craft is a great way to celebrate! With just a few materials, you can make these fun 3D Easter eggs right at home. Use the finished Easter eggs as decor for your holiday celebration, or give them as gifts!
Here’s what you’ll need:
• Water balloons
• Yarn or string
• Elmer's glue
• Water
• Bowl
• Clothes pins (optional)
• Air pump (optional)
• Yarn or string
• Elmer's glue
• Water
• Bowl
• Clothes pins (optional)
• Air pump (optional)
How To Make A 3D Easter Egg:
Step 1: Blow up the water balloons so they’re all about the same size. We used a small hand air pump. Be sure to tie the balloon.
Step 2: Cut 6-8 inch pieces of yarn.
Step 3: In a bowl mix some glue with some water. The mixture needs to be just runny enough to soak into the yarn.
Step 4: Take a piece of yarn and soak it into the glue mixture. Make sure the entire piece of string is covered. (We would not recommend putting more than three pieces in the mix at a time.)
Step 5: Pull the string out and squeeze out the extra with your fingers.
Step 6: Wrap the yarn around the balloon and repeat until you are happy with the way your egg looks. You can use one color at a time or use multiple colors for one egg. We used about 6 pieces for each balloon.
Step 7: Hang them up to dry. We used a clothespin to clip them up. Letting them dry overnight is best.
Step 8: After the eggs have completely dried, pop the balloons and pull them out of the eggs. You can then clip the eggs to a string to make a garland, place them in a bowl or an Easter basket, or hang them up using a dry piece of yarn.
Girls can make different eggs, experimenting with balloon size or the amount of yarn each time. This is a great art project for springtime!
