How to Make a Calm Jar
Today’s craft is the perfect go-to that girls can use when they need to reset and regain a sense of calm after experiencing some big feelings, like being anxious, upset, or worried. Regardless of feelings, this calming sensory jar is super cool for any girl to mix, shake, and watch at any time.
Supplies
Gather These Supplies for Your Sensory Jar.
Essentials:
- Bottle or jar
- Water
- Clear hand soap
- Acrylic gems
- Glitter
You can make a perfectly wonderful calm jar with only the supplies listed above. To make the jar featured here, you’ll need all the items below as well.
Fun Extras:
- Sequins
- Butterfly clips
- Wooden letter tiles
- White gorilla glue (this type is waterproof)
- Gloves
- Binder clips
How To Assemble The Jar
Step 1: Fill ¼ of your bottle with water.
Step 2: Add acrylic stones, glitter, sequins, and butterfly clips. If you use too much glitter, you’ll have a hard time seeing the other items in your bottle.
Step 3: Have a grownup put on gloves and use the white gorilla glue to attach the letters. We made the words: kind, calm, and fun. Use binder clips to keep the letters from coming apart. Allow the letters at least an hour to dry completely. It’s important to wear gloves so that the glue doesn’t get on your skin.
Step 4: Add your words to the bottle once the glue is completely dry.
Step 5: Fill the rest of your jar to the very top with clear hand soap.
Step 6: Have an adult use the white gorilla glue to seal the bottle shut so that it can’t be opened. Now you’re ready to shake your bottle and stare in amazement for as long as you’d like!
This project has quite a few steps, but don’t you think the hard work was worth it? Remember to take a picture of what you made, and tag us @hopscotchgirls on Instagram, or send us an email with a picture of your final product. We’re looking forward to seeing your relaxing calming jars!
