Autumn Craft: Fall Leaf "Spray Painting"
OCTOBER 10TH, 2023
Fall is officially here, and we’re celebrating with a fun craft project. We love this project because it encourages girls to spend time adventuring outdoors. Get ready to nurture your daughter's creativity as we collect leaves and use them to create "spray paint" leaf prints. So, grab your spray bottles, gather those leaves, and let's dive into the art of leaf printing while bringing a touch of the outdoors into your home!
Here’s what you’ll need:
- Tempera or Washable paint in fall colors
- Spray bottles for each color
- Hot water
- White card stock or any paper
- Fall leaves
How To Make Your Fall Leaf Spray Painting:
Step 1: Go outside and collect some fall leaves for your painting.
Step 2: Now it’s time to make the spray paint. Put two teaspoons of paint into the empty spray bottle. (Note: We used travel-size spray bottles, so we only needed two teaspoons of paint. If you have a bigger spray bottle, consider adding more paint.)
Step 3: Add hot water until the bottle is full. Put the lid on the bottle.
Step 4: Shake the bottle until the paint mixes in with the water. Washable or tempera paint works best for mixing and spraying. Repeat these steps for each color you want to use. (We recommend testing your paint out to make sure the paint sprays dark enough. If it doesn’t, add more paint and shake it up again!)
Step 5: Find a workspace where you can be free to spray paint all over and not worry about it making a mess. Lay the cardstock or paper down and place the leaves down on the paper.
Step 6: Take a paint color, randomly spray two areas of the paper, and repeat for each color you want to use.
Step 7: Lift the leaves off of the paper and now you have a colorful leaf print!
Hang your artwork in your home to celebrate the changing season and the creativity of your daughter. This fall leaves craft for kids is sure to be a hit in your home!
